About The Fund for Cape May

The Fund for Cape May is a non-profit partnership organization for our Cape Island communities whose mission is beautification, preservation and providing educational programs encouraging active citizenship in our youth. Starting with the beautification of Rotary Park, the Fund will join with municipal, public and other non-profit organizations to accomplish this mission.

Board of Directors

Curtis Bashaw, President
Curtis has summered or lived in Cape May for over 40 years.  He has been involved in the restoration of numerous historic buildings in town including The Virginia and Congress Hall hotels.  Curtis received his MBA from The Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania.

Tracey Martin, Secretary
Tracey is a native of Cape May, and the 4th generation of her family to call Cape May home.  She is a member of Cape Island Baptist Church, where she serves in numerous capacities, and a member of the Lower Cape May Regional Education Foundation.  She holds a Bachelor’s degree in Metropolitan Studies from Ramapo College of New Jersey.

Doug Miller, Treasurer
Doug has been a summer resident of Cape May since 1989.  He recently retired from a 25 year career in finance in New York City.  Doug is a member of the Corinthian Yacht Club and the Beach Club of Cape May.

Bill Bezaire
Bill has lived in Cape May for nearly 40 years and is a partner in Coldwell Banker Sol Needles Real Estate.  He has served on the city’s Planning Board since 1980, and has been a member of Cape May’s Volunteer Fire Company since 1979.  He earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Industrial Management from Georgia Tech.

Colleen Bashaw Bohuny
Colleen has summered in Cape May her entire life.  An interior designer, she worked at Parish Hadley in New York and has done numerous projects for Cape Resorts including Congress Hall and the Virginia Hotels in Cape May.  She earned her Bachelor’s degree in Art History from Saint Lawrence University.

Tom Carroll
Tom has been a Cape May resident since 1969.  He and his wife, Sue, opened Cape May’s first Bed and Breakfast, The Mainstay Inn, which they owned and operated for 34 years.  Currently retired, Tom spends much of his time volunteering for the Mid Atlantic Center for the Arts and other nonprofit groups.

Kate Hathaway
Kate has been a life-long summer resident of Cape May.  She is a member of the Cape May Cottagers Association, Corinthian Yacht Club  and the Beach Club of Cape May.  Kate is a professional actress who has performed at Cape May Stage and currently is a Broadway producer.

Tim Tompkins
Tim grew up spending summers in Cape May, and his mother and brother are full-time residents.  Tim is currently the president of the Times Square Alliance in New York City.  He was the Founder and Director of Partnerships for Parks, has worked at New York City’s Economic Development Corporation, and currently teaches at the NYU Wagner Graduate School of Public Policy.

Claudia VonSavage
Claudia first came to Cape May to work during her high school summers.  Now a full time resident for over 25 years, she is active in various civic and charitable organizations.  Claudia is a partner in Dune Abstract Company and holds a BA from Duke University and a JD from the Boston University School of Law.
